SINTA

Observations of Sinta and her offspring, Sabine, began at 9 a.m. When first spotted, they were in the mid-canopy of a tree near the feeding platform. However, much of the food provided the previous evening and earlier that morning remained untouched by Sinta and Sabine. Sinta sometimes appeared to be picky about her food, as she would occasionally let food rot, although this was not a consistent behavior.

Despite this, Sinta actively foraged in the forest school. Along with Sabine, she consumed wild fruits and young leaves readily available around them. Sabine, still young, stayed close to her mother, often mimicking Sinta’s behavior. Sinta’s indifference to the presence of nearby humans is a positive indicator for meeting release criteria.

Throughout the morning, Sinta and Sabine stayed near the feeding platform, spending most of their time in the tree canopy and never descend to the forest floor. When observers returned after their midday break, Sinta and Sabine were no longer in the area, prompting a search of the entire forest school.

The search for Sinta and Sabine took over an hour. They were eventually found on the right side of the forest school near the electric fence, high in the tree canopy. Sinta typically doesn’t wander far, often sitting in a single tree while eating young leaves or forest fruits. In contrast, Sabine appeared more energetic, swinging from one branch to another.

Sinta’s parenting style seems to give Sabine a little freedom. She allows Sabine to play and explore while still keeping an eye on her. If Sabine goes too far, Sinta immediately follows her to ensure her safety.

As the evening approached, Sinta returned to the feeding platform to eat her dinner with Sabine. After that, Sinta was seen repairing the old nest in the middle of the canopy near the platform. Sabine often participated in this activity, although she spent more time playing nearby.
