REDI
Since the regrouping process was carried out, Redi has been increasingly seen spending time with Banir. The two are often observed sitting or lying side by side while watching other orangutans participating in forest school. There are even moments when they mirror each other’s posture—lying on their stomachs with their legs stretched out wide—as if calmly enjoying the “view” in front of them. This companionship reflects a growing sense of comfort and closeness between them.
Redi’s interactions with Manfred also bring an interesting dynamic. Known for often attempting to take food from other orangutans, Redi shows a noticeably calmer demeanor when around Manfred. The two seem to understand each other’s boundaries and personal space. Despite both being males with dominant tendencies within the group, their interactions remain relatively stable—indicating a developing sense of tolerance between them.
Unlike some individuals who begin to settle down before sunset, Redi is often among the last to “end his day,” especially during forest school sessions. As if fully making the most of his time in the forest, Redi appears to enjoy every moment. He remains active in searching for and consuming food even when others have already started selecting spots to build their nests.
Redi’s love for food is particularly evident. In the night cage, his enthusiasm is always clear. Whenever feeding time approaches, Redi quickly climbs and clings to the edge of the cage, trying to observe the keepers’ activities—even when they are still at the food storage area. His gaze follows every movement, filled with focus and anticipation.
Redi usually only moves away once his hands and feet are full of food. Afterward, he often chooses to sit back and relax in a hammock, calmly enjoying his meal. This simple routine further highlights that, for Redi, eating is not just a necessity but a moment he truly savors.
In terms of health, Redi is in good and excellent condition. Based on daily monitoring, no concerning clinical symptoms have been observed. This indicates that Redi remains stable and is able to carry out his daily activities optimally.
With increasingly stable social dynamics, strong adaptive abilities, and well-maintained health, Redi continues to show positive progress in his rehabilitation process. From the way he interacts, explores his environment, and enjoys each activity, it is clear that his confidence is steadily growing.
This journey is still a long one. However, every small step Redi takes is an important part of his path toward independence. With consistent support and monitoring, Redi has a strong chance to continue developing—until one day he is ready to return to his natural life in the wild.
