REDI

In the early morning, before breakfast began, Redi waited patiently in the middle canopy alongside Seko. Known for avoiding humans, Redi waited until the animal keeper finished placing food on the forest floor. Once the keeper had left, Redi descended slowly to grab a portion of his meal. True to his distinctive eating habits, he only collected small amounts at a time, carrying them back to the lower canopy to enjoy at his own pace. This routine continued until his breakfast was completely consumed.

After breakfast, Redi explored the forest floor before climbing back up to the upper canopy. By the time observers arrived, he was already deep within the heart of the forest school, holding an ant nest he had discovered during his exploration. Using his mouth, Redi eagerly licked the nest clean, savoring every bite until only scraps remained. Once finished, he tossed the emptied nest down to the forest floor, where Julia quickly seized it to enjoy any leftovers.

Meanwhile, Artemis started her day in a quieter manner. She wandered through the middle canopy alone, maintaining her characteristic distance from the group. In the afternoon, during feeding time, Redi once again showed interest in Artemis. After finishing his food, he attempted to follow her, though Artemis, as usual, avoided him.

Preferring solitude, Artemis selected a spot in the middle canopy, far from the others, to build her sleeping nest. Despite several failed attempts to track her, Redi eventually gave up and returned to the area where Gieke, Julia, Otan, and Seko were located. There, he skillfully broke branches and assembled them into a well-constructed sleeping nest in a tree near their overnight cage.

Redi’s nest-building skills were remarkable, creating a sturdy and comfortable resting place. Nearby, Julia and Gieke chose their nesting spots, staying relatively close to Redi. Otan and Seko also settled in the same vicinity, fostering a peaceful atmosphere among the group. True to her nature, Artemis remained apart from them, maintaining her independent routine.

This story highlights the unique ways each individual adapts to their environment. Redi’s diligence in foraging and crafting nests, Julia’s opportunistic nature, and Artemis’s independent spirit all add vibrant dynamics to life at Jerora Forest School.
