Mamat’s overall condition is good. From a health perspective, there are no serious concerns. A few weeks ago, he was heard coughing, likely due to weather changes, but it resolved on its own. To date, there have been no signs of any further complications.

Mamat’s appetite has been very good. He is not a picky eater and consistently finishes the food provided. His daily menu consists of eggplant, cabbage, bananas, and occasionally durian and native forest fruits from West Kalimantan. Currently, West Kalimantan is in fruiting season, so the variety of food in the enclosure is quite abundant. This prevents Mamat from becoming bored with repetitive meals and also serves as additional enrichment.

Mamat is very familiar with his feeding schedule. In the mornings, he tends to wake up early and appears ready when feeding time arrives. At night, coughing or sneezing sounds are sometimes heard from the enclosure area. However, it is unclear who they come from, as Mamat is housed in enclosures adjacent to Beno and Bablu. These sounds are rarely heard and, so far, have not raised any concerns.

The interactions between Mamat, Beno, and Bablu have been generally positive. There have been no significant conflicts, only occasional noisy or lively moments. During the day, especially in hot weather, Mamat tends to rest more and remains minimally active, making the enclosure appear quiet. Activity usually increases again as feeding time approaches.

Throughout the observation period, no unusual behaviors—either positive or abnormal—have been recorded in Mamat or the other three orangutans housed in the Sintang enclosures.
