BANIR

When Banir was given a durian, she tried to open the fruit herself using her hands. However, her efforts were unsuccessful as the durian’s hard shell proved too tough for her strength. Observing her child’s struggle, Benazir, her mother, took the initiative to help. Skillfully, Benazir opened the durian. Despite the fruit initially being meant for Banir, Benazir gave her only a quarter of it while keeping the rest for herself.

Banir accepted her portion and moved away from her mother to enjoy it. Sitting cross-legged, she devoured the durian completely, savoring every bite. However, after finishing her share, Banir still seemed unsatisfied. Eager for more, she approached Benazir and began taking durian from her one by one. Banir ate each durian seed until it was gone before returning to its mother to get some more. This pattern continued until Benazir’s portion of the durian was gone.

Although Benazir often takes food from Banir or limits the amount she gave her, she is still willing to share small portions whenever Banir approaches. This interaction reflects the dynamic bond between mother and child, where Benazir teaches resilience while ensuring Banir receives what she needs, albeit in limited quantities.

In addition to mealtimes, Banir is often seen playing actively on her own in her cage. She uses the available facilities, such as the hammock and tire swing, to enthusiastically swing back and forth. Her high-energy play has even caused the tire swing in her cage to break, highlighting her spirited nature during playtime.

Interestingly, Banir’s cage directly opposite the forest school, giving her an opportunity to interact indirectly with observers conducting studies there. Banir appears to enjoy the attention from these observers and often tries to catch their notice. She makes playful noises with her mouth or bangs on the cage walls, as if inviting them to play.

There’s a fascinating pattern in Banir’s behavior. When the observers approach her cage in response, she moves away and stays close to her mother, Benazir. However, once the observers start to leave, Banir resumes making those playful sounds, seemingly to draw their attention again. This cycle repeats several times, creating the impression that Banir is playfully teasing the observers or animal keepers nearby.
