MAMAT
In the morning at the Sintang Quarantine Center, Mamat begins his day leisurely in his favorite shelter. He lies lazily, with part of his body inside the shelter and his legs stretched out. Throughout the morning, Mamat shows little interest in the activities around him. It’s only when the animal keeper arrives with breakfast that he shows enthusiasm. Once he finishes eating, he promptly returns to his shelter to resume relaxing.
While the animal keeper cleans his cage, Mamat remains sprawled out in his shelter, seemingly unbothered by their presence. However, if another keeper happens to pass near his cage, he briefly steps out to observe them. If he doesn’t get a response, he retreats back to his shelter, waiting for the next meal.
Occasionally, when he feels bored staying in the shelter, Mamat decides to climb on top of his cage to rest. Despite his relaxed demeanor, Mamat consistently shows curiosity about the people near his cage. He often approaches passing staff as if wanting to interact, even if it’s just by lying down and watching them closely.
Mamat has a healthy appetite, finishing all the food provided to him without leaving any scraps. During fruiting seasons, he particularly enjoys forest fruits included in his diet, eating them enthusiastically.
By late afternoon, Mamat uses the leaves given by the keepers as bedding or a blanket. He meticulously arranges the leaves over himself before lying down in his shelter to rest. However, when it rains, Mamat prefers to take shelter on top of his cage.
Mamat’s relaxed routine and his focus on interacting with his surroundings reflect his calm yet observant nature. These habits provide a unique glimpse into Mamat’s personality during his time at the Sintang Quarantine Center.
