MAMAT

That morning, Mamat started his day lazily in his cage. As usual, he lay down in his favorite spot on the upper level of the cage, waiting for the breakfast. With his eyes closed, he heard familiar footsteps approaching. The sound stirred his curiosity, waking him up. Mamat peeked through the cage’s ventilation, and there you are, he saw the animal keeper approaching.

With his unique movement, Mamat slowly climbed down from his resting spot and approached the cage door, this time in a prone position, a sign that he was ready for breakfast. The animal keeper slipped food through the bars, and Mamat began to calmly take the pieces one by one. He savored each bite, chewing slowly while occasionally glancing around to ensure everything was safe.

Once the food was gone, Mamat looked around. There were no more signs of the animal keeper. Feeling satisfied, he returned to his resting place and lay down comfortably. He spent the rest of the morning in silence, enjoying the peace without any disturbances.

Later, as it was time for the midday enrichment session, Mamat and Mungky had a small scuffle sparked by Mungky. At that moment, Mungky suddenly approached the side of Mamat’s cage where he was resting. Mamat responded by moving toward Mungky. The two faced each other, but no physical contact occurred. The tension was brief before Mamat chose to move away.

When the enrichment time arrived, with soybean milk as the treat, Mamat, who usually enjoyed this treat on the ground, decided to drink it at the upper level, at his resting spot. Perhaps, this decision was made to avoid any potential conflict with Mungky, who was still trying to provoke him. Mamat remained calm and chose to distance himself from the conflict, peacefully enjoying his enrichment.

In the afternoon, after eating and receiving fresh leaves, Mamat was seen nibbling on some of them. Then, he began arranging the leaves to make a nest for resting. However, once he finished tidying up his nest, Mamat went back down and started playing with his shelter. He pushed the shelter in different directions, as if trying to find a comfortable position. After resting for a while there, Mamat returned to his favorite spot at the upper level of the cage to continue resting.
