BONDAN

Bondan has spent one month in isolation cage, the final stage of preparation before her release into her natural habitat. Her current condition is excellent—her eating habits are stable, her body is fit, and her health remains well-maintained. Bondan’s release is planned for next month, though it is still awaiting official approval from the Ministry of Forestry. SOC has proposed May 13 as Bondan’s big day, but this date is subject to change.

Spending too much time in the isolation cage is not ideal for Bondan. Therefore, the entire team hopes the decision regarding her release will be issued soon so Bondan can finally enjoy her freedom in the wild.

During her time in the isolation cage, Bondan shares the space with Joss, her close companion. Although Joss often shows dominance by snatching Bondan’s food, their relationship remains positive. This kind of interaction is typical in orangutan dynamics. They also frequently play together, engaging in games of chase or light nibbling, before eventually retreating to separate corners to spend some alone time. However, as night falls, they reunite and sleep together in a hammock neatly arranged with leaves and branches they collect in the late afternoon.

Bondan’s activities in the isolation cage are limited, but she often shows her curiosity. Sometimes, she watches the animal keepers passing by on their way to the forest school or observes the activities of other orangutans in the distance. Inside the cage, Bondan is often seen climbing the bars or playing on her hammock.

The long rehabilitation process Bondan has undergone has shaped her into an independent individual, ready to face the challenges of the wild. This isolation period marks the final step before she returns to the forest—the place where she truly belongs. May Bondan’s release proceed smoothly, bringing new hope for her life in the wild.
