BONDAN

In the morning, at around 9:00 AM, forest school observations began. Bondan was seen with her group in the middle canopy, occasionally moving to the upper canopy. There, she busily ate leaves and fruits available in the forest. Bondan appeared to enjoy her meal while moving from branch to branch. Until the afternoon, Bondan remained in the tree canopy, taking the time to explore her surroundings while foraging for food.

Around 1:00 PM, Bondan was observed on the forest floor with her group. There, they played together, and Bondan was often seen wrestling with Joss, who seemed to be her favorite playmate. This playful activity was quite intense, showing the close social bonds between them.

Bondan has a unique habit that often draws the observer’s attention. Termite nests seem to be Bondan’s favorite food. Every day, Bondan always looks for termite nests on the forest floor. Diligently, she circles the tree, dismantling the surrounding soil using her hands or simple tools such as twigs for 30 minutes to an hour. She usually does this activity alone, although sometimes Joss watches her, although not often. This habit is not tied to a certain time, because Bondan can look for it in the morning, afternoon, or evening.

By late afternoon, at around 4:50 PM, nest-building observations began. Bondan was seen constructing a nest in the middle canopy. With agility, she arranged branches and leaves to create a comfortable resting place. This process took about five minutes. Once finished, Bondan immediately lay down in her nest, enjoying some rest. However, her peace was not last long. About 15 minutes later, Joss approached Bondan’s nest and drove her out. Joss’s strong dominance left Bondan unable to resist, forcing her to abandon the nest she had just made.

Even though she was thrown out, Bondan didn’t go far. She chose to build a new nest near Joss’s nest, using leftover branches and leaves from the previous one. Patiently, Bondan added branches and leaves to improve her new nest. This process lasted until around 5:45 PM, demonstrating Bondan’s perseverance in facing challenging situations.
